Observer

A Cardiff rugby supporter since 1968. Cardiff RFC committee member.

My first game was an evening game at the old National stadium in the days when Cardiff played there. WE WON! Cardiff born and bred, "Blue and Black" is in my soul. I recently received the great honour to be elected to serve on the committee of Cardiff RFC.

Whilst not being very good at it, I loved playing the game and I have the distinction of having played in every position on the field except lock. Those who've met me re not surprised that I did end up in the front row. Loose head seemed appropriate somehow. I was never good enough to rise beyond "social rugby". However, I look back on my playing days with great fondness.

I became a district ref back in 2003 and now referee at the same level as I played. I have been lucky enough to ref at CAP on several occasions. Refereeing has allowed me to build great friendships with people all over the country and farther afield.

Outside of rugby my work life has included: Banking, Salesman and now I am a self-employed Driving Instructor. I am currently training to be retired. I think I am going to be quite good at it too!

Other interests? Chess - I am the Chairman of the National Correspondence Chess Club and a Vice President of the Welsh Correspondence Chess Association. I love all sorts of music (I used to sing!) and I am a retired club cricketer.
