1–2 minutes

Sometimes in Welsh rugby it can be easy to lose sight of what is really important.

Since the Chief Executive of the WRU first issued his “cease to exist” threat in 2013, the sport in Wales has had to contend with constant dispute, rumour and off field intrigue. There have been transfer embargos, threats of mergers, endless disputes and negotiations which go round in circles.

It goes without saying that the game in Wales has been badly let down by the individuals who have chosen to govern the game in this way.

How many fans, potential investors and young players have turned away from the sport as a result? In a sport where the off field politics completely dominates the narrative and drowns out efforts on the field, how many people simply look to put energy into things that seem more focused on delivering joy rather than anger and bitterness?

CF10 was originally formed in 2016 as a response to chaos of Welsh rugby’s off field politics. But I dont imagine theres a single member of our board who wouldnt prefer to be cheering on the Blue and Blacks and debating new signings, rather than trying to get to grips with the new off field horror story.

Particularly when theres so much to enjoy.

The Blue and Blacks have been fantastic this season. They’ve played with joy and with fight in every minute of every game. New stars are rising. Old favourites are in the form of their lives. And it makes us proud to support them.

The players deserve better. Every employee concerned for their future deserves better. And every single supporter of the game deserves better.

Lets hope tonight provides another reminder of what is important and what is joyful about rugby.
