CF10 board’s thoughts on WRU proposals for club control and ownership
Since Helford Capital’s abject failure to fulfil its financial commitments as owners, and Cardiff Rugby’s subsequent slip into administration and temporary WRU ownership, as a Supporters’ Trust we have chosen to mostly maintain a dignified silence. Earlier this year we considered making our feelings known about the URC’s continued policy of ignoring our club’s chosen kick off times. The Saturday evening kickoffs – unpopular with many fans and inconvenient for families – are far from being the club’s preference. We have grown all too…

Sometimes in Welsh rugby it can be easy to lose sight of what is really important. Since the Chief Executive of the WRU first issued his “cease to exist” threat in 2013, the sport in Wales has had to contend with constant dispute, rumour and off field intrigue. Thoughts reflect on’ plays long since called, decisions still marginal and opportunities taken and missed. Season tickets, pride and regret are now the lingua franca in warming June days as social media is trawled for new signings and new playing jerseys for next season. A Season Ticket, with accompanying super slo mo videos channeling the gravitas of Dylan Thomas and Richard Burton, offers…

Cardiff Rugby, that weather battered, storm struck clipper of the ages, sails torn, anchor lost. But remains manned by a crew of trailblazers, rebels, hopeful romantics and seekers of new horizons. And now takes shelter in the calm, still harbour of the WRU. 2024/25 will go down as a season which has been discombobulating and exhilarating. Assessed against our history it is underwhelming, but drawn on the canvas of the present it is extraordinary. Cardiff Rugby has not only tickled April, she has given it a full…
