Term of office
Hello my name is Karan Chandler. Although a recent season ticket holder and member of the Trust , Rugby has been in my family background for most of my life. I remember from early days being at my relatives in the Newport valleys listening to my parents and rest of family shouting at the TV during Internationals and being fully engaged with the match . It was the days of Gareth Edwards , JPR and other wonderful players. I meanwhile was sat back on the sofa reading a book.
Roll on to when I got married and we moved back to Cardiff. John my husband soon went to the Arms Park and took our children. Eventually I joined in the social scene post matches.
My involvement as a spectator began about 8 years ago sitting with Lynn our Trust Chair when she patiently explained what was going on. I learnt a lot from the little aeroplane that took the conversion tee on the pitch. I still miss that plane sponsored by BMI .A few years of this and I had my own season ticket . This is always now renewed as part of the Early Bird window. We sit in the South Stand and our friends stand in the same area. We have a lovely familiar group of faces around us and have watched the children grow up to teenagers and older.
I started being an observer on Trust meetings about in 2024. I mostly listened and began to ask questions. I found it very interesting and became quickly impressed how invested the members of the Trust are in the club but mostly the supporters and how important it is for the supporters to have a voice that is listened to. As a result I was very pleased and proud to have been invited on to the Board recently. It appears my questions are found useful and appreciated. We are at a time of big changes at Cardiff in the club and in Wales, so I hope to be an active part of the Trust in helping the supporters and Cardiff Rugby.
