Term of office
I was elected on to the Board of CF10 in 2017 and have loved helping the Trust grow both in terms of membership and influence. I am constantly impressed by the skill and hard work of my fellow members. Last year I took on the role of secretary and I aim to support our Chair and provide the organisation and structure that will allow us to continue to provide a voice for supporters at the highest levels.
The last few years have been tough ones for Cardiff Rugby, the huge impact of the Covid lockdowns, the loss of our President and greatest supporter, Peter Thomas and more recently the financial problems that have led to us going into administration and being managed by the WRU. I have been proud of the way CF10 has been able to support and advise the Club during these difficult times and I played an active role in the ‘Save our Game’ campaign.I have been a member of the Comms group throughout this period, helping to keep our supporters up to date with rapidly changing events, and giving them a voice in the ongoing discussions.
I have been closely involved with the heritage work of CF10 and act as secretary to the Cardiff Rugby Museum Steering Group and represent that group on the Management Board. We have worked hard to open up Cardiff Rugby’s heritage to more people – improving the displays, writing history blogs and articles for the matchday programmes, giving talks at Summerfest, opening the Trophy Room to visitors, giving talks to local history and sporting memorabilia groups. It has been particularly rewarding to host the Sporting Memories organisation and Dementia Cafe, groups that tackle dementia, depression, and loneliness through the power of sport. It has been wonderful to see the way people have responded to the collections and the enthusiasm for heritage through all the age groups. As we move toward the 150th anniversary of the Club’s creation we will be working to ensure that we still have a Club to be proud of.
